UTA, who was obsessed with basketball that he started in fifth grade and dreamed of becoming a basketball player, entered the IMG Academy in Florida, United States at the age of 16 and played basketball for three years.
"Because it was a school with only real athletes, it's natural to work hard. No matter how hard the practice was, I never felt it was painful to play basketball. Of course, there were things that were purely "body is the limit" (laughs). I was very anxious at first, mixed with the selected athlete elites. Without fear……It was an unfamiliar world, and how to interact with high-level people was a big challenge. Still, there was an idea that "people have their own paths", so I thought that I would concentrate on myself as much as I never had before, rather than a comparison--I'm prepared to do my best. I love basketball so much, so I think it was something I could do.
In retrospect, if you don't have that three years, you don't have now. I was very trained not only in the aspect of sports, but also mentally. The model is a job that can only be done by Men Tal. For example, it's not uncommon to fall into an audition, and there are many dent scenes. But if you don't have a strong feeling of continuing to challenge, that dream will not come true. In a sense, it's like a fight against mental health, so some people break there. But I've been learning tenacity in the United States, looking for how to capture it interestingly even in negative situations, and trying to find a fragment that seems a little positive when my heart is depressed. I think I was able to move forward positively with the spirit of "everything fun" that my grandmother taught me. I don't think failure is a failure, but I'm grateful. It's hard, but I think there might be something that can be seen."
