A large-scale new exhibition "Kotao Tomozawa Solo Exhibition "SPIRALE" by her current graduate of the University of the Arts will be held at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO on the 4th floor of Shibuya PARCO from September 16th (Friday). Since she was a junior high school student, she has been visiting Shibuya PARCO in search of art and stimulus, and a shop cruise to GUCCI in search of new sensibility. So we met with new values born from the fusion and amplification of the two brands "adidas x Gucci".

"adidas x Gucci" The fusion of different codes created

In February 2022, GUCCI held a fashion show for the “Exquisite” collection in Milan for the first time in two years. The highlight of the collection was the collaboration of "adidas x Gucci". In the collection, a variety of items are developed using three stripes coded from the heritage of both brands as the core of their creative activities. At the fashion show, which was the venue for the collaboration announcement, three stripes incorporated into Salto Real Streetwear were amplified and transformed into mirrors surrounding the runway. The red long V-neck dress worn by Kotao Tomozawa was inspired by Madonna wearing a red dress like Aiko Nic at the premiere screening of the movie "If I Can Meet You" in 1993, and is a modern reinterpreted. "At first, I was worried that I could wear it.…When I wore it, I felt like I was the strongest. It’s very ‘GUCCI’ and very ‘adidas’. The collision point is somehow very new, so I'm going to cun. After all, you are attracted to your heart,” says Kotao Tomozawa.

"adidas x Gucci" offers a wide range of collaborative accessories such as bags, shoes, hats, jewelry, and scarves. In particular, I would like to pay attention to the shoes that add the original arrangement of "GUCCI" to the popular Adidas Originals sneakers Gazelle. The wedge sole sneakers (6cm) worn by Kotatomo Tomozawa are also decorated with symbolic three stripes, and chic and athletic elements are combined, making it a pair of shoes that can be worn with a dress while being worn with outstanding comfort. A mini-sized handbag on the shoulder adds a new interpretation to the tote bag of the Bamboo handle published in 1991 [GUCCI Diana]. A removable red kolor leather belt inspired by the band to keep the shape of the handle is incorporated into the design and updated.

Kotao Tomozawa, a young painter who expresses a unique human image with slimy material like slime. I asked her about the expression she would like to try in the future, which was recognized by all over the world and attracted a hot gaze.
"In the past, I used to try to express something that exudes by simply drawing 'things there', but now I dare to feel like I'm using quite imagination. In the past, I used to think “this world is a lie,” but recently I said, “Is it true?”…。 I think the world in my head is probably “true.” So something that comes out more suddenly…I would like to focus a little on such places as well. It comes out of a video work combined with something or an irregular front and rear bump--yes, exactly like "GUCCI" and "adidas". Pictures and videos, but I want to do that.”

Kotato Tomozawa
