Yuta Shimizu(field / Eild / Rainbow Disco Club)Interview

We interviewed Yuta Shimizu of Rainbow Disco Club, who planned a new project together with PARCO and managed the event on the day, about how he worked on the event.

――Why don't you finish "field-ZODIAC TAKEOVER PARCO"?

At noon on the day of the event, Michaels of ZODIAC liked "HABUSH" too much, so we had a toast many times. Also, in the daytime part, there were a lot of content that we weren't very familiar to, so if you thought "It's more damage than you imagined" at the end of the day, Knock (RDC) next to me said, "This may be tougher than Izu……I said, “I think I was wrong.……Think about it (laughs). However, after actually finishing it, everyone enjoyed it, so I thought it was good to do it.

――I had the impression that the RDC is taking on a new challenge. What prompted you to start dating PARCO?

In the past, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I had a personal call to a project called Hearth Kitchen and had an event in ComMunE. At that time, I met the person in charge of PARCO and started communicating from there. I like his personality and atmosphere, so it was like inviting me if there was something or meeting me by chance in various places, but when I came to Izu in 2023, I was talking about something I wish I could do together. We, RDC, were originally a team of friends, and we were talking about a system different from a general corporate organization or an ecosystem, so we should communicate that to PARCO employees, but at the end of 2023, I made a proposal that would be the prototype of the “filed” and made a proposal to PARCO. He told me that it would be nice, and from there I made something like a team, discussed the plan and proceeded.

――I felt that the event was held incorporating not only music, which is the strength of RDC, but also various aspects.

We didn't talk about wanting to do RDC in Shibuya, but we talked about how we would like to start something new that would be a challenge for each other by sharing what we have. PARCO has a lot of know-how that we don't have, so I think it's worth it for us.

――Please tell us why you invited ZODIAC from Jakarta this time.

When I submitted my proposal at the end of 2023, I called on interesting collectives and crews from all over the world and wrote that I would like to introduce not only the prominent part but also the whole thing as much as possible. We, the RDC side, of course, are mainly music, but not only that, people who are doing various things such as design, food, fashion, etc. gather and think that we are now there, so if we can show it the whole in the same way, I thought that I could show more essence and everyone's motivation would be different. Taking ZODIAC as an example, they play clubs and music labels in Jakarta, as well as apparel brands, graphic design, food, etc. As we all go out to the RDC held overseas, the momentum is different, so I think the people coming to Japan will have a strong impact and it will be interesting (laughs) By doing it together with PARCO, we can produce a variety of outputs such as food, art, and fashion where we can only do the aspect of music by ourselves. I wanted to do that Wand Rai with ZODIAC in Jakarta, where I was the most shocked in recent years.

――Do you have any memorable episodes in Japan with the ZODIAC crew?

They came more than I could imagine, and everyone stayed in Japan for about a week after the event ended, but I just had GERO's 30th birthday, so I went to Disney Sea to play in the morning with about 15 people. Everyone was wearing costumes and hats, and it was a pretty great group (laughs). I also went with my family, but everyone was kind, so it was fun to play with my daughter.

――Nasigororen, which opened in the daytime, is also a GERO store.

GERO was originally a ZODIAC crew and DJ, but now he is the resident DJ of a club called “KLYMAX” at a Bali hotel called “Potato Head Suites & Studios”, and he also owns a Nasigoren specialty store called “NASGERO”. “Nasgero” is shocking. Nashigolene, which feels street taste than Nashigolene I have eaten so far, has a rich seasoning, delicious, and looks closer to black than brown. I also came to RDC last year, but as I am in charge of eating and drinking at RDC, I sincerely hope that PARCO will someday be able to do NASGERO.

――What criteria did DJ's lineup be selected?

"ZODIAC" has a club in Jakarta, and Jonathan Kusuma is at the center of it, but we got a list of DJs we wanted to call for in this project, and we selected them from them. Almost all of the Japanese DJs who appeared in the daytime and nighttime sections are playing over there. I knew from the beginning that the lineup would be satisfactory for each other, so I didn't have any difficulties around that.

――Why did you give the title “Filed”?

Knock (RDC) said, "Shibuya was originally a field, so what about" field "? " The idea was in line with the concept image of "new challenges and encounters" for RDC, PARCO, and customers, so it was decided to be "field". That's what I saw at the booth of "SIDE CORE" who was exhibiting at an art event called "DEFOMAT" just before this conference, I saw Shibuya making pottery using the soil of Shibuya, and now Shibuya is only concrete and I don't feel the soil, but I learned that in the past it was a land where rivers flowed in the fields.

――Is there anything you want to do in the field in the future?

There are a lot of things. RDC celebrated its 15th anniversary and PARCO celebrated its 55th anniversary, and when we thought about working together in the future, we wanted to do something that we could take on without our own knowledge. Not just looking at artists, but the people behind the scenes can be nurtured.……I wish I could spend money, learn English, and conduct educational programs such as thinking and living. I would like to try creative initiatives that take into account the environment and materials. There are still many things I want to do, and there are many challenges, but I feel that I want to do the next as soon as possible. Anyway, I think it's important to keep rolling.

――It seems that it will be quoted in future manufacturing.

We believe in music or what we like, so even in the field, we would be happy if we could exchange each other's likings and make new discoveries. We want people to challenge themselves, and we want people to find a new field.

1983 Left-handed Baby
Born in Saitama, New Jersey, Japan, as the eldest son of kumade Sho, grew up quickly and quickly. My father told me, "If you don't go to college, I'll do 200,000." I go to Tokyo as a clerk at the hill surf shop, but in six months the president escapes at night. After that, while working at a restaurant, I became absorbed in a club led by my seniors, and lived surrounded by the kindness of many people I met there. In his late 20s, he worked as a manager of Daikanyama UNIT cafe space. At the age of 30, he became independent without deciding what to do after marriage. Currently, we have incorporated the name of the coined word Eild, which means just right between Wild and Mild, which was decided at that time, and we are focusing on artist management / video music production / event production centered on music and art.

Main activities include Eild/Etched/field/Rainbow Disco Club/kumade Shimizuya
