Interview Toshifumi Yamane (toe) × Ikuko Harada (clammbon) | NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA

At PARCO OUTDOOR PARK, which was born on the 5th floor of Shibuya PARCO, items that combine functions and designs for enjoying the outdoors are placed in a narrow space. Among them, "NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA", the world's first concept store in Nordisk, Denmark, which landed in Tokyo in 2017, is a large Nordisk tent, the same North Europe brand, and the unique camp gear that is born only for specific purposes, and outdoorwear that makes you want to wear on a daily basis.

"Opening in Shibuya PARCO is asymmetrical location for camping, and in a sense it is an adventure," says shop owner Toshifumi Yamane. He was also the creative director of the apparel brand <F/CE> and also a band toe (basist), and talked about nature, camping, fashion, and music. The conversation partner is Ikuko Harada of clammbon (vocal, keyboard) who is also a music friend. The two talks, who had seen various scenery through each activity, hidden hints that would give a rich color to life.

——Toe and Krambon are often performed together at festivals and other events, and they participate in the work as guests. Do you usually talk slowly in this way?

Harada: "It may be my first time talking with Yamane."

Yamane "I think so,"

Harada: "In the first place, Yama-chan (Hirowa Yamata /toe / guitar) and Mito-kun (clammbon bass, guitar, composer) became private and friendly, and the live PA is the same, Nishikawa-san, a person who is indispensable for each other's band. I would like to participate in toe's songs, jump in and participate when I can versus at events and festivals."

Yamane "The rest was Mito-kun's producer of toe,"

Harada "Record Kobuchizawa! Mino-kun (Takaaki Mino /toe Guitar) is a recording engineer while camping in Kobuchizawa from an album called "Re-clammbon 2" by Krambon. It's close and close, including individual activities."

——Regarding musicality, I think both bands have vibrations, or the performance is very physical.

Harada: "It's a life for a single live, or it's okay to end with this. I wonder if there's something like that."

Yamane "Yes. The live performance is the moment, so there is only one chance."

Harada: "I respect the fact that each person's individuality stands out is wonderful and respectful, but when the members come together and become bands, it's cool rather than ordinary people. Toe's "emo" comes out so much that it doesn't matter (laughs). I can't express it anymore with emotions and sorrows, and everything is exploding in a lump."

Yamane: "Ikuko-chan and Mito-kun participated in" Goodby "just before" Mori, Road, Market ", right? At that time, I was very stupid. From the time of studio rehabilitation, "Is it like this?" He sang and sang, and at that time when Ikuko's singing voice overlapped, the bird skin stood while playing, and I felt a lot of power."

Harada: "I've met everyone for the first time in a long time, and I haven't been able to play live all the time, so I'm awy. It's like a band dive together. At the moment the drum count sounds, everyone feels like they jump in."

Yamane: "I understand. Krambon's live performance also feels like you're drawn into the world after listening to the first sound of the start, and you'll feel like the bird skin is standing all the time."

Harada: "It's true if I watch toe's live performance. I was told that the vibration was transmitted earlier, but it was just right."

——You just talked about "forest, road, market", do you have any memories of this year's festival?

Harada: "I was impressed with each of the few things, but it's been a long time since I was able to leave the Kanto region and go to an outdoor festival. It's been a long time since I took the Shinkansen, so I was so happy that I took pictures of the Shinkansen (laughs). There is a sea, the sky is wide, and the customers are enjoying themselves."

Yamane: "I took a picture at that time, but when I played with Krambon, I put it on Instagram. Anyway, the weather was nice and everyone seemed happy. I really thought it was good to live (laughs)."

——Do you still have a difference in the content of playing in an indoor space like a live house and an outdoor space like a festival?

Yamane: "I'm not so much concerned about the situation, and I'm just watching Takashi (Takashi Kashiwakura / toe / drum) during the live show. I always play a different drum, so there's always something to discover."

Harada: "That story is fresh. There are new discoveries from the members who are supposed to be closest."

Yamane "I've been doing it for almost 20 years, but I still have it (laughs)."

Harada "Kashiwakura-kun, Konada, the drum set was interesting! You're always exploring to make good sounds."

Yamane: "Of course, I think he's a very stoic person, and I respect him. Of course, all the members are respected."

Harada: "I don't think Krambon really like the outside. You may be addicted to the outdoors because you have tasted that open feeling. Both the live house and the hall have good sound and good comfort, but there are no ceilings or walls, so it feels like the sound is flying forever."

——Where do you watch when you're playing outdoors?

Harada: "I see the sky where the sun is getting darker. I'm nervous when I look at each person (laughs). I like to see the clouds suddenly in, the sun shines, and the changing scenes and sounds overlapping. At such moments, I'm thrilled and moved."

Yamane: "I can't feel it's outside."

Harada: "Hey. In this situation, it is no longer natural to be able to perform live performances, and after all, we can't do it alone. There was a staff member who carried the equipment to the deep mountains, formed a stage, created a place, and there were customers who came there. That's why I want to have a good live performance. One live performance is clear once, so it feels like a phantom."

Yamane "I may like Clambon's live best."

Harada: "I also like to live toe. Somehow, when the sun goes down, it's happening every day without rest, but when music is combined there, an incomparable impression is born. Speaking of which, the Fuji Rock in 2019 was terrible. I can't forget that rain."

Yamane: "I also played as a guest at that time, but I am very grateful for having had a very good experience."

Harada: "I played Nujabes' "reflection eternal" with Clambon, toe and Tokuzawa Seigen-kun, but the photos taken by photographer Yoshiharu Ota are so great that it's like "the ultimate of emo."

Yamane: "When I did a live performance at a rock festival in Korea, it fell down on the way, and a local photographer took the picture at that time, but that was also very emotive (laughs)."

Harada: "I saw you! It was amazing! If something goes beyond imagination, it will be engraved in memory."

Yamane: "But I thought it was surprising that Ikuko-chan was not very familiar with the outdoors."

Harada "Is it true? I admire it, but I'm awkward (laughs). But I've talked to Mino before. "I'm a super beginner, where should I start?" "

Yamane "When I went camping with Mino-kun, it was very easy (laughs). I'm good at cooking and have a lot of tools, so I also brought a lot of Dutch oven and made some delicious paella. The best. When I go camping, I always invite the Mino family (laughs)."

Harada: "It's nice, it's fun. There was something like a pizza kiln in Yamane-kun's shop, right? When I heard in Kobuchizawa, Mino-kun also told me, "Oh, it's fun." Camping is absolutely fun for children."

"Nordisk x Helinox," says Yamane with a smile, "I think it's better to sleep than my bed (laughs). By combining it with a highly livable Nordisk tent, you can experience the Danish "Hügge" meaning cozy and fun time. The pizza kiln of the British brand "Uuni", which Mr. Harada first noticed at the store, said, "Because the oven inside will be 500 degrees in 10 minutes, if you put the pizza there, it will burn it in about 1 minute." Yamane told me. The bonfire table also has a lineup of light and compact items that can be stored, and Mr. Harada also seems to have increased camp heat.

Yamane: "Climbing is a stoic situation like fighting against yourself, but camping is a good time with friends and family, and it's really fun to buy tools. I'm really glad I've been doing it for work these days."

Harada "Yes, yes. Don't you know which tool fits you until you use it for a while? I don't know which one to use because there are so many."

Yamane: "Yes. Do you actually use various things to find the best? There are many types of sleeping bags alone, and in Japan there are four seasons, so it would be best if there were guys that match each season, but this time it will be difficult to store at home (laughs) "

Harada: "I've left camping tools on my car and I can leave right when I want to go. I'm longing for that kind of thing. But I thought I would catch a cold (laughs)."

Yamane "That's right (laughs)."

Harada: "Is there any recommended place to camp?"

Yamane: "Oku Nikko is very good, and there is a place called" Iris ga Hama Campsite "in Lake Chuzenji, but it faces the lake and the scenery is very good, and the climate is pleasant. I want to buy a canoe from now on, and I want to take it there."

Harada: "Hey, I have to take notes right away (laughs). For a while since I made my debut, I went abroad for a month off every year, but I couldn't make a united holiday. However, with COVID-19, the usage of time has changed a lot. First of all, let's start from a place where you can go nearby."

Harada: "Have you ever camped at a festival?"

Yamane "When I appeared as a toe at a festival called" GOOUT CAMP ", it was really fun to camp with Mino-kun! I got on the front and camped with my family for two nights."

Harada "Wow! That's the best. It may be one ideal."

Yamane: "I mean, I always want to play good as a result, in sync with the atmosphere of the place, and as a result, I don't think everyone is going to have a good live performance."

Harada "Yes. I feel like I'm familiar with the place rather than going out and going live. I can't catch a cold! I've had a live performance at a festival at night on a stage where only people on the camp site can see. I was envied that there was a lot of smoke from BBQ, drinking and eating, and having a good time with friends and family."

Yamane: "But in this situation, I've come to feel the importance of doing bands, making clothes, and doing such a shop. Music is so special in me that I can't express it well in words, and it's a part of everyday life, but I have all of it and I am there."

Harada "Yes. I hope you will be able to go live in various places again. After tours and events, you can leave a little bit, stop by the hot springs and eat delicious food. That kind of time was very important. I think it's now."

Yamane: "That's why you're balancing,"

Harada: "Hey. Main Of course, it's about performing live performances, but it's also fun to stop by a little. It's nice to see mountains, rivers and the sea when traveling by train or car."

Yamane "What about Mito-kun and Dai-chan (Daisuke Ito / Clambon Drum)? When I look at Mito-kun and SNS, it's very impressive to see them enjoying themselves at Fuji Rock."

Harada: "You're really enjoying it. I usually have a shared room with the manager, but I wonder if I'm going to watch a live performance with Mito. I feel like I know each individual on SNS later (laughs). Dai-chan may return home early. Have you ever camped in Fuji Rock?"

Yamane: "I used to camp when I was a customer in the past. In the morning, it's so hot that I get up, but everyone seems to be at the bottom of the slope (laughs) All the people and things are hardened and the place where the tent is stretched diagonally, so I'm falling down while turning over. That's why it was so fun."

——This time, "NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA" opened in Shibuya PARCO, and do you have any memories of Shibuya or PARCO?

Harada "Last year, I had DOMMUNE perform at the Fishman's event. I think it's interesting that Mr. Ukawa, who has been working independently as a counterculture, has made PARCO in Shibuya one floor and a base for distribution. It's amazing to hear that only DOMMUNE was continuing to deliver "5G" live streaming in our efforts with Shibuya-ku, and even when we couldn't operate the entire building, we were told that only DOMMUNE was continuing to deliver. The depth of PARCO's pockets, or the fact that it contains various vectors and edgy, is also attractive. I think it's the same as before, and I think it's something that continues to be inherited here, but I feel that PARCO in Shibuya is exceptionally sharp."

Yamane: "I also played a toe live at DOMMUNE, and on a different dimension, I thought Ukawa was a really amazing person. It would only be possible for PARCO to work together with such people to do interesting things."

——Why did you decide to open "NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA"?

Yamane: "I was fascinated by camping tools and became addicted to the outdoors, but when I started my own shop someday, I wanted to make it a high-end camping equipment store that I wanted to go to. That's why I started working in connection with the Danish brand called "Nordisk", and I opened a shop in Kinuta four years ago.

My wife is also a work partner, but after having a child, I moved to Shibuya-ku, and I've been working together for 12 years, so I heard from PARCO this time. "What kind of scenery can you see if you open such a shop in Shibuya?" I thought it. There's an authentic outdoor shop in Shibuya, but our main reason is that we wanted to approach people who like fashion, take a little challenge or adventure, and propose to new customers."

——Do you have any unique features of this shop that Kinuta does not have?

Yamane "The Kinuta shop is located just halfway between the Chuo Expressway and the Tomei Expressway so that you can buy additional tools before going to the camp or when you come back. When I go to the camp, I'm worried about Gere used by the people around me, and I want a new one. That's why I set up a shop in a place that considers convenience, but the Shibuya store didn't have such an aim at all. I just want young people to come."

Harada: "People who don't usually camp at all can come and see them."

Yamane "Yes, yes. I want to create a base here where such people come and want to camp. Like festivals, it's a place where people who don't know their music can listen to it. For me, music and camping are all experiences, and I want to create opportunities here. I've talked about PARCO's fashion and culture, but I think it matches our thoughts."

Six new shops are available: "NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA", "POLeR TOKYO", "ogawa GRAND lodge", "RED WING SHOE STORE", "CBD MOTEL", and "L.L.Bean". The “PARCO OUTDOOR PARK” logo is handled by artist Nigel Graph, and the floor design is handled by illustrator Jun Oson.

Harada: "I'm glad that Yamane-kun is doing this kind of shop. Yama-chan is doing the interior, and Kashiwakura-kun was in charge of music in the F/CE collection video. It's irresistible to go camping with Mino-kun and his family, and to value the connection with band members both public and private."

Yamane: "I'm so happy to hear that. Thank you."

"NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE SHIBUYA" is filled with many camp gears selected from the corner to the corner in the store with a unique sense. Harada picked up the items he was interested in and asked, "What do you use this for?", And Mr. Yamane explained carefully. There are items that coexist in a well-balanced manner, such as the lantern of Mountain Research, which lit with candles, and the two-burner of PRIMUS, which features a clean design that can be carried like a shoulder bag. The lantern of "Mountain Research" is warm and good light, and Yamane says he also uses it at home.

——How did you see the inside of the store?

Harada: "I was surprised because it was full of things I didn't know (laughs). Camping goods have evolved more than expected, both functional and design! "

Yamane: "I use everything myself and buy what I think is good."

Harada: "You can convey your thoughts and attachments. It was luxurious to have Yamane explain one by one. I've been using Yamane-kun's backpack all the time, and it's been about five years. I brought it today."

Yamane "You suddenly came to Daikanyama's ROOT (now F/CE. Flagship Store). I don't usually stay in a shop, but at that time I happened to be with my wife and "Oh? ! Ikuko-chan?' It's like that. I'm so happy that I've been using it all the time."

Harada: "Isn't it a long time to see such an old item? It tastes a lot (laughs). It's very easy to use because it has a lot of pockets. I put this in a suitcase when I go to a tour or somewhere, and use it when I go out somewhere."

Yamane: "The members of the toe also use our items, and sometimes I don't know which bag is (laughs)."

——Mr. Yamane is also the creative director of his brand <F/CE>, but what kind of commitment do you have to design?

Yamane: "I don't have something like a design philosophy, but I wonder if I really like what I made. Before making a product sample, we make something like a prototype with an appropriate fabric, called Towar, but when it is possible, I always think that it is an item with a lot of information. My wife is also a designer, so I'm designing clothes and items while organizing the amount of information together.

I always live in a world with a lot of information, so sometimes I get tired of it. In that respect, music is very simple to me, so you can enjoy it purely. When you think of it as a job, the amount of information suddenly increases, and the pure part diminates. That's why I make something I like. I want my favorite people to wear their clothes, and I'm very happy when I see them using them for a long time."

Harada: "I don't know if the words are accurate, but the clothes and bags of <F/CE> aren't too fashionable. I think it's the feeling that Yamane and Hull originally have, but it's exquisite."

Yamane: "I'm so happy that you can say so. I have the pleasure of getting my clothes to someone close to me, and I'm glad that Ikuko-chan wears it today and suits me."

Harada: "It's important to me, and if you're too fashionable, you'll get tired. I like places that aren't too outdoors, and I'm comfortable to wear, simple, and feel like I fit myself. I want to wear such clothes for a long time, and I wonder if Yamane-kun is essentially such a person. And this may be my selfish belief, but you're making great effort to lower the price?"

Yamane "Eh? Do you know that? (laughs)."

Harada "I'm going to tell you (laughs)."

Yamane: "If you pay high clothes, you can get as much money as you can. But I think it's absolutely useless if it's not reasonable. Prices and things are one communication, so it's a very important thing. That's why I'm thinking of breaking down all the myories in manufacturing. We develop ourselves and do not pass through intermediate suppliers, and we do a troublesome way to directly wholesale customers, but we always want to do it to the point where we can convince that we can provide feedback to the price. "

Harada: "Is it easy to buy as much as possible, and do you mean that you can give them as directly as possible to those who actually move their hands?"

Yamane "Yes, yes. That's normal, but the mechanism of apparel doesn't work so easily. But we're making clothes, thinking of breaking the system. I'm really impressed by the fact that it's transmitted (laughs)."

——That's the same way to break such a mechanism, and after that, we also make a collection of knitted knits from recycled PET bottles. Do you think about something like social contribution rather than sustainable?

Yamane: "I don't think much about the exaggeration. It's just a simple feeling of doing what we can do. I've been working for a certain brand before, and the brand has a policy of "animal free", but I studied because I had never been conscious of that kind of thing. So, I realized that the textile industry is putting a great burden on the environment, and what happens to the earth when our children grow up? I came to think about it. But what we can do in a company of our size is limited, so I'm conscious of doing what we can anyway."

Harada: "That's right,"

Yamane: "Isn't you choosing a method that suits your height rather than aiming for stoic only? I don't know how good it can affect the earth and our lives, but I always want to have that kind of consciousness."

——We haven't opened yet, but what kind of store do you want to be in Shibuya PARCO in the future?

Yamane: “I think there are still few customers who have the image of“ PARCO = Outdoor ”. I would like to gradually expand that impression. Our shop wanted to go camping, and those who originally liked it said, "Isn't this tool good?" I want to be a place where such communication can be born. We want to sell experience and value rather than sell things, so we want to present it properly. And I'm going to have an event again."

Harada "What kind of event?"

Yamane: "I want to set up a tent here so that both adults and children can enjoy it together. This year, the summer festival has been canceled, so I want to do it here."

Harada: "It would be interesting to learn how to set up a tent here."

Yamane: "Yes, it's important to experience."

Harada: "I think it would be better to learn directly from someone rather than reading the instructions. If there is something like a workshop, I would definitely like to participate."

Yamane: "Some people build tents while watching Youtube videos at camp (laughs). Please come and visit Ikuko, too."

What kind of scenes have you seen so far?——

After the interview, I was really worried, and when I asked them, here is the photo that I sent at a later date.

Add each other's episodes to a beautiful world.

——Do you have any views that remain in your heart?

Ennis Tymon, Ireland

Yamane This is a view near Ennis Tymon, Ireland, which was also featured in the collection theme of F/CE. The cloudy sky, ruins on the hill, and animals. It was impressive that the scene of the fusion of reality and the past continued outside the car. I felt the grandeur of nature again." (left)

Paul standing on the seaside of Taitung, Taiwan

Harada: "Musician summing is an indigenous Ami tribe, who was able to live together and was brought to him when he visited his hometown. A plan to build a resort hotel along the sea, a sacred place, was raised, and the locals opposed it, but it was about to proceed aggressively, and one day, this pole was standing on the planned construction site That's right. The wood is carbonized and has a traditional knitted cloth. He said that he brought a giant tree of many meters and did not know who stood it overnight. But I understand that it is a message. He quietly conveys something by being there, not in words. It was a beautiful sight. Later, I heard that the construction plan was gone, and this pole was gone one day." (right)
