Interview Masako Ito (Stylist) x Shigesatou Itoi (almost Hishiro table) | Almost Sunday "Masako Hundred Views"

——It's been a long time since I saw you in person?

Shigesatou Itoi (Hereinafter, Itoi) "Yes, right? But I always watch "weekdays," and my wife (actor Kanako Higuchi) buys something in a lot."

Masako Ito (Hereinafter referred to as Ito) "Thank you. Mr. Higuchi is a great deal, thank you. I also read Mr. Itoi's "Almost Day" column every day. That's why I don't feel much blank even if I don't see it in this way."

Itoi "Oh, that's right. I'm in contact with nature as if I breathe every day."

——"Masako Hundred Views" is an exhibition where you can touch 100 items that color your daily life. In the first place, how was it planned?

Ito: "I decided to collaborate with the converter on daysdays, and I was thinking about various projects to excite it. Looking back on the history of the converter, or collecting historical items to make it a museum.……。 But while I was chatting in various ways, I was told, "I think it would be interesting to have an exhibition that collects what I like." So, the book "Masako Hundred Views" (a catalog of this exhibition. When I started making it from August 6th until 2020 (pre-sales on 2020), I completely forgot about the background (laughs). Well, the Hundred Views of "Hundred Views" was the 100th anniversary of the birth of All Star."

Itoi's title "Masako Hundred Views" is like Dazai Osamu (laughs)."

Ito "This is a proposal for members of the weekdays. I can't put it on myself (laughs)."

The "scenery" of 100 views is a view of the scenery.

Ito: At first, the designer in charge told me the concept of cutting out the scenery that was something in the house, and everyone in the team was excited. But on the contrary, "Isn't it better to stop by something?" Yeah. Stylists feel that it's like a job to create a landscape there rather than physically aligning something. When I'm going to take a picture, I can imagine a curtain swaying behind the things, though not shown.……I think it's a job to make such a place. In this exhibition and book, I dared to eliminate that sign."

Itoi "If there is something, it will be a view?"

Ito: "Yes. From there, I want people who have seen and read to imagine."

What are the factors that make the scenery?　It comes from the story of things themselves, or the story of getting things.

Ito: "After all, texture, etc.……I wonder."

Itoi: "I think it's something, including the environment in which it was placed. For example, when I and Masako are there, I am also Masako, and Masako are me. They are involved in each other, and if Masako-san is there, the air will become Masako-san itself?……。 The word mood (= atmosphere) is often used, but let's take a look at the whole range that affects the person who has it. Is that the scenery?　People in the antique world often say 'the scenery', but on the contrary, they are trying to find a big world in small things."

Ito "Yes, right? If you have one bowl, it's not the end, but all the things you need to prepare, the tea room, and the scenery of the garden seen from the tea room are included in the bowl."

Itoi "It's a great delusionary power (laughs)."

Ito "Fuffh. But for me, tea bowls are not just a tool for drinking tea. There are a lot of things, such as good gripping and good sound when placed on the table.……。 In this exhibition and book, we introduce what we like, including beauty and shortcomings. Of course, there are also products of "daysdays". I was given the opportunity to make what I wanted almost every day."

It has been just two years since "weekdays" started. I have made a variety of things, such as things to wear, things to wear, and tools for living.

Itoi: "Is it possible to make it as you wish?"

Ito: "I've got it. Of course, there are a lot of bots."

Itoi "I tried to make it, but it wasn't this?"

Ito "Yeah," This may be sold, but it doesn't fit. " Everyone takes care of the feeling of matching or not matching around that. I don't want value for things, for example, "this was made in what age.……"It's not very important at all."

Itoi: "After all, that kind of information belongs to others,"

Ito "Yes, right? After all, it's myself to use it. But because I like and dislike too clear, if I say that everyone in the team is good, can I expand the range of tolerance a little more?　There are times when I think that. After all, it's a shop because of sales. But when you say so, everyone says, "Let's stop."

Itoi: "Everyone's opinion is probably in Mr. Ito already. Rather than conflicting, there is surely an exchange of inhaling each other's opinions and releasing them again. But I don't want to do it without thinking. We're going to be as strict as possible."

Do you want to make it? If you are unsure, how do you give an answer?

Ito: "For example, when I've been thinking about a glass at this height, I'm getting harder and harder to understand. So, when I brought it home and my daughter told me, "Mama, if it's like this, I want it too." ] That's right. Even though my thoughts look like a love letter I wrote in the middle of the night, she will appreciate it in a straightforward manner."

Itoi "I see. Also, at a meeting, when the opinion of A and B comes out, it's like hitting the two to create a better C. I don't like that very much. It is a coarse verdict that if you hit it, that is, a better one."

Ito "Yes, right? In conflict, each other tends to speak up."

Itoi: "If you're a sumo wrestler, it's a job to meet each other. Instead of confronting each other, sit side by side like sitting on a bench, and "What do you want to do?" I'd like to talk about it. I've tried to make the company name a "bench" before."

Ito "Hey!"

Itoi "Isn't it a classic wedding speech? "What we need is not to look at each other, but to live in the same direction, that's marriage." Either A or B, in fact, it's okay. To put it more, I don't care who said it. The answer is what the place creates. Even when we try to create such a place, the word scenery may be surprisingly easy to use."

——On the other hand, the scenery of the world seems to have changed a lot due to the occasional COVID-19 pandemic. Did you have any changes in your daily life?

Ito: "The first thing I noticed was that I heard such a bird's voice." It may be because it was spring, but I didn't spend much time at home, so I never listened to the outside sounds. After all, I was able to improve the interior of the house. I hope you will be comfortable. Speaking of which, I have thrown away my slippers."

Itoi "Did you throw it away?"　All?"

Ito: "Yes. I had about 10 pairs, but I thought I wanted to change it soon, so customers don't come, and I'd like to throw it away! That's right. Then I was very surprised by everyone (laughs)."

Itoi "Masako-san's sense is really good,"

ITO: "Isn't it a coincidence?"

Itoi "Yes. I think that's not only slippers but also looking farther. I'm looking at slippers in the scenery where people don't gather, so I can give a drastic answer, that's a sense. Also, what I wanted to change is that I thought a lot before throwing away slippers, that is, I was running a run-up. That's why I was abandoned. If I hadn't thought at all, I would have ignored it."

Ito: "That might be the case……。 After that, I rediscovered that there are various things around the house. I haven't seen it until now, but when I went there, it was a delicious shop or a good park. I was taking a walk in the morning, and I wondered why I was just going far away. I guess it was enough to walk away."

Itoi: "Every time, I can be satisfied there,"

"I'm really happy (laughs). But now, I'm starting to think little by little that I want to go here and there again. I want to see people."

Itoi "I want to get together. For a long time, people have been affirmed that gathering is a good thing. So far we have been trying to gather a lot of people, and it has been encouraging. That was forbidden in this situation, wasn't it?　I was imagining how sad it was, but when I started, I found some people got used to it, and I was scared of it. Some people say, "It's easy because you don't have to get together."

Ito "Yeah,"

Itoi "I was saying that everyone wanted to get together like that, but it changed a lot. I'm still patience seeking to get together. I have never thought that the current state would be better."

——How did you change your daily life by being unable to meet or gather with others?

Ito: "We had a weekly meeting of 'weekdays' remotely all the time, but when declaration of a state of emergency met after a long absence, it was completely different! I thought it. How to chat, or how to create a lot of interesting ideas beyond that?……。 The remote was convenient, but when I told you the matter, it was "Yes over."

Itoi: "Efficiency is good. But……」

Ito: "My work is more like a detour, rather than efficiency. It's not very good for me."

Itoi: "In today's era, companies and organizations have a policy of going around work even if they take a break. But when it comes to reality that you don't have to be there, everyone feels lonely."

Ito: "Sure,"

Itoi: "I'm getting ready to quit my job in terms of age, and I'm working hard to get the company to go around even if I quit. But it's not a rugged thing. But if you were told, "You don't need it from today."……。 It's really scary to say that you should rest more and more. I don't like that everyone is getting used to it. "Isn't it good that the city is so empty?　I've always thought so, but it's a lie! I think (laughs)."

——Some people often said, "I don't really need anything this much."

Ito: "Is that right?　I was shopping in Bambang during the self-restraint period. Online shopping, order, etc. I've never done so much before, but it's convenient."

Itoi "I'm the same. But it's a store that goes to find something that says, "I don't know what, but it's good." It's often the case that it was different from what I actually thought."

Ito: "After all, we use it, so we have to confirm it.……」

Itoi: "For example, most of the things listed in this 'Masako Hundred Views' (books) don't fit me?"

"No, that's not the case! (laughs)."

Itoi "but it's fun just to look at each one. I don't have to buy it."

Ito: "That's right. It's not a book called "Buy", but a book that I just say "I like it" without permission, because it's an exhibition."

Itoi "It's fun to see and read what people enjoy. That's why that lyrics are really good. "The most enjoyable thing is to dream from your mouth" (from Akiko Yano, "Only one")

Ito: "It's good. I might say my dream from my mouth rather than listening (laughs)."

——You also sell some of your favorite items at the exhibition.

Ito: "Yes. Even though I'm writing "I like this," "I'm already good" (laughs)."

Itoi "Do you feel like you're going to be married?"

Ito: "It also has the meaning of a request. Some of the items on display were bought overseas, but now I can't go abroad. But if I let go of it, I will be able to go to find the next one day."

Itoi "Hey,"

Ito: "I like things, but I don't really stick to them. I'm gone, and I think it's good, and I'm going to be a book in this way."

Itoi "Masako-san, have you ever used the word 'I definitely want'?"

Ito "Yeah……No, isn't it?　If I didn't get it, I wouldn't have anything to do with it. Also, it's a bit different, but when I cut off parting to a man, "Did you say you love it for a lifetime?" There are people who say such things sometimes. But there are places where I can say, "I really thought so at that time, but now I'm different."

Itoi: "This is what you're living. You're metabolizing, isn't it?　I think I can let go of it at any time, so I can quickly reach out to what I am satisfied with each time. A person who can divorce one million times, Masako-san (laughs)."

Ito: "It's good to divorce one million times, but for that purpose you have to marry one million times, so it's troublesome.……I don't like this development (laughs)."

——Do you think there is a "correct answer" in choosing something?

Itoi: "There are so many people who want the right answer."

Ito: "I don't want to do wasteful shopping?"

Itoi: "I don't think I want to deny myself that I make a mistake. And I want to stop thinking. If you say that there is no right answer, "I don't want to be."

Ito: "Yes?……。 But if you get older, it will change. My mother, Le Cruze, has been using a large pot for a long time, but he said, "It's heavy, so it's okay." Right now, I'm using the aluminum pot that I gave, but even if I look at it, I don't think I'm correct. And the right answer is not always the right answer."

Itoi "I don't know. So, "What's your favorite food?" Even if you ask me, I'm in trouble. There's a time when I want to say, "Today is a pepper" (laughs). The pepper is the right answer now. In such a way, it's full of things that I thought life was immutable, not actually. I think it's better to remember that."

——In a world that continues to change, I am not immutable. Then, I looked at what I wanted now and felt while listening to the story that I should take care of it.

Ito "Yes,"

Itoi "Masako-san is fun to make things with everyone, it's fun to read books and watch movies at home alone, and it's fun to go abroad. Well, I don't have a distance. It's fun."

Ito: "Yes. No matter where you are, there are many things to do."

Itoi "That's because the subjectivity is trained. I think that's the only thing, especially these days. I'm trying to see if my feelings can be lively."

Ito: "That's right, this to Mr. Itoi. Converse's "weekdays" collaboration model is the first."

Itoi "Oh. (Open the box) Oh, like it."

Ito "The color is all navy. The trademark star is not on the outside, but I asked them to put a logo on the inner floor. I think this would allow adults to wear it."

Itoi "It's cool. Since shoes are something that everyone buys on the premise that they already have a lot, it would be better not to have the "right answer" mentioned earlier.……Isn't this going to sell?"

Ito "I want you to sell!　It's not a company luck, but a team luck. It will be sold at the venue, but if you can't come, you can't come online."

Itoi "If you buy it online, you don't have to wear it out. That's why I'm supported outside, we are."

——Finally, about Shibuya PARCO and its surroundings. Have you changed the view of Shibuya?

Itoi-san has always been involved in Shibuya and PARCO, right?

Itoi "Yes, right? The image of what was in Shibuya Seibu Building B was moved to PARCO.……。 I've been thinking about Sanzan PARCO since then, so I've been around for a while. I've been here for a long time. Shibuya, certainly has changed."

Ito: "I used to live in a very close way and I can still walk, but when I first came to the new Shibuya PARCO, I felt that a place called 'Here' was created. It feels different from the other side. That's why "Almost Day" was also opened (8th floor gallery "Almost Sunday", 4th floor shop "Almost Day Culture")

Itoi "Yes, right? At the time when you think it's not fashion now, what do you do to collect so much fashion? I was told that Shibuya PARCO has a solid subjectivity."

Ito "I think it's interesting that even if you ask the surroundings, your impressions can be clearly broken. "It's very interesting!' He said, "A little bit……"With a man.
