Japan's first combine shop was born

"JW ANDERSON" opened Japan's first combine shop on the 3rd floor of Shibuya PARCO in October this year. Designed by London-based 6a architects, the space is a fusion of the essence of two flag shops in London and Milan. While incorporating the essence reminiscent of the Milan flagship store, such as carefully selected materials, craftsmanship, and a fitting room decorated with pink carpets and curtains, the spirit and nightlife culture of the first flagship store located in the Soho district of London, such as petrol blue and black checkerboard floors and neon signs, is also inspired.
"I haven't met designer Jonathan Anderson yet, but I've heard that his father was a rugby Ireland national player. In the 2024 Men's Spring / Summer & Women's Resort Collection, he appeared in the finale of the show wearing Irish national rugby uniforms. That was very impressive. I thought JW ANDERSON was a wonderful brand that could freely incorporate various cultural elements," says Takako Inagaki.

Clothing is a collection that has returned to its origins

Designer Jonathan Anderson said, "Simple, without excess, to the starting point." The cropped-length knitwear worn by Mr. Inagaki has a laser cut damage processing on the hem, and anchor, the logo of JW ANDERSON, is embroidered on the back. The pants with a modest flared silhouette have slits, making the legs look very elegant and beautiful.
"JW ANDERSON felt that JW ANDERSON was "normal" in a good sense because it showed us a novel piece in the collection, such as animal motifs. The clothes I wore today also have a slightly wild image, but when I actually put it on, the body line looks very beautiful and feminine and elegant. I enjoyed it as if I became part of the brand called JW ANDERSON, which was very exciting to wear."
The bag that Mr. Inagaki holds is JWA CORNER BAG from the new "Corner Series" with a chain link representing the brand at the corner of the bag. The gold tone metal fittings are accented with a rounded trapezoidal silhouette.

Why Takako Inagaki doesn't stop the challenge

"I'm from Osaka, and my university also went to a sports school in Osaka. When I started working as a model in the fourth grade of university, "Oh, it's fun! I want to do this very much. When I started looking into the model, I arrived at Paris Collection, and then, "If you want to model, let's aim for Paris Collection!" I decided to do that. I sent my resume to an international model office in Tokyo, but I couldn't get a reply.……Still, my desire to express myself in mode overseas did not change. First of all, I want to prove that I can do high fashion, so I'm going abroad. At that time, I met Singapore. I heard that the official language is English, and that there is a good team in Singapore to create a model book, "Well, let's go to Singapore!" Yeah. I was more active than now, and my body was moving as soon as I thought (laughs). I decided to live in Singapore for a year and started working as a model in earnest."

Developed a model career in Singapore and devoted himself to making books. In 2014, one year after his immigration, Mr. Inagaki moved to Paris.
"In Paris Collection for the first time, I was suddenly told before the actual performance that I wanted only to walk with a little girl. The girl, of course, was very nervous on the first runway (laughs). They made their debut while calling out, "I'm okay" (laughs). That's why the first runway is very memorable.
Overseas, especially models walking on runways are often tough. At that time, there were a lot of discriminatory things. There were still few Asian models, so I was able to get out of order.……But "I will never lose!" I think I was able to do my best on the other hand. It was my feeling that I liked this job. The joy when I was able to do the job I wanted to do is really great. Maybe the time when I was frustrated or sad was longer in total, but more than that, the joy of doing something expands many times. And even if you can do the job you want to do, you won't be satisfied there. If you stand there, you will see a different view again, and the next challenge you want to do will naturally spring up."
