Comey, an artist who has been very interested in environmental issues since he was a teenager, launched the water-related project "HYPE FREE WATER" in 2020, and sends out his own voice. Com-eye cruises "VCM MARKET BOOTH", which focuses on used clothes and vintages that correspond to our changing lifestyles, and "NORDISK CAMP SUPPLY STORE", which proposes outdoor life where you can enjoy a sense of unity with nature and the earth. Sustainable options required in the diversifying new era. We will continue to "get closer to a sustainable society as much as possible."

A valuable vintage item
Leaving to future generations as "Next Luxury"
In this era of mass production and mass destruction, Vintage Collection Mall (VCM) launched its service as an e-commerce shopping mall specializing in vintage, with the concept of "creating new value to what someone loves and leaving it to the future." On February 25, 2022, the first real store "VCM MARKET BOOTH" opened on the 4th floor of Shibuya PARCO. Participating shops are opened on a regular basis, with two stores currently focusing on high-brand archives, "Hedy" and "modo Tokyo vintage", as well as "H & JUMPIN 'JAP FLASH", "dracaena", "Gleeful", and "HOLIDAY WORKS", which have a wealth of vintage items carefully selected by buyers. I asked Mr. Komui, who enjoys used clothes on a daily basis, about the charm of vintage. "The design, like this short jacket, is hand-sewn and carefully embroidered one by one on the Velvet, is delicate and unthinkable in modern mass-produced clothes. It seems that the paired boots were stage costumes, and it is also fun to know the story behind the item. I always have new discoveries when I come across interesting designs and textiles."

Here is a space that is not planned harmony.
"VCM MARKET BOOTH" is the first project of "4202122", a joint project between SKWAT, a project that emerges as if "occupied" empty spaces such as Omotesando and Harajuku, and the graphic designer Toru Kase. The interior is designed to thoroughly pursue the "lightness that is easy to overwrite," which was sparse to the spatial design of commercial facilities, and removes the enclosures and walls of conventional commercial facilities, making it a fluid and challenging interior as if it were under construction. "Don't change the space, squeeze wisdom and devise it, and show it in a different place. Instead of using fixtures and resources to create spaces, they use reused materials or show them in a completely different place with graphics. "I thought it was very creative and interesting," says Comey.
A one-on-one relationship between used clothes and me.
The joy I met is like life.
"At a used clothes shop, 'I like this dress!' If you think about it, you will join the circle of people who have worn it.…I feel like I've been in a communication network and I think it's interesting. People who like the same clothes have narrow and dark commonalities, so I feel somewhat happy. Also, since there is no same thing as a used clothes shop, clothes and myself are one-on-one. No one else can wear exactly the same thing I chose. It's fun to meet like that, and it's like life. "What do you mean?" I think the timing of feeling suddenly is life. Everyone has the same education and grows up in the same environment.…I don't know at all, so I sometimes don't know myself. But if the world was full of different things one by one, I wouldn't be so anxious. When mass production and things of the same standard are overflowing, I sometimes feel that there are parts that humans are unconsciously anxious while wearing them. That's why I think "used clothes" can become a kind of sense of security in living in human society."

I want someone who needs it now to wear it more and more
"New clothes have a feeling of bringing a new 'season', but it doesn't necessarily have to be newly created. I feel that only new clothes do not bring fresh minds and trends. I like used clothes for a long time, but there are quite a few things to let go of without wearing so much costumes. That's why I buy used clothes and return them to the market with used clothes. Because someone will buy something very cute. I think it's better to have someone who needs it wears more and more than to put it in my closet. If you replace the closet with only used clothes, you don't put that much burden (on the global environment). That's why I think it's a great attempt to get used clothes to be distributed in shopping places like Shibuya PARCO."
