Discover Japan Lab.| Sale of character work "bobo" of "Shibukusayanagi-zukuri kiln"

"Shibukusayanagi-zukuri kiln" is a traditional kiln that has continued in Hida Takayama since the end of the Edo period. While many potteries pass on specific patterns and styles as formats and styles, the pottery is characterized by the fact that the motto is "Tradition is declining, tradition is a continuous innovation", and the manufacturing that has been updated for each generation. This embodiment is the character work "bobo", which is full of playfulness and street feeling, released from the product line "7/s (Sevens)" designed by Nanadai Shibukusa Yanagizo. Discover Japan Lab. has a full lineup of "bobo" in line with "ART Week". The works based on playful original paintings and traditional landscape paintings can be said to be a “happy fusion” of traditional Japanese crafts and contemporary art.

Shibukusayanagi-zukuri kiln
Shibukusa ware was opened in late Edo period in 1841 as a kiln in Shibukusa (now Okamoto-cho) in Takayama, inviting a potter's wheeler from Owari and a painter from Kutani in Kutani in the late Edo period. Shibukusayanagi-zukuri kiln is one of the traditional potteries of Shibukusa-yaki, where only two kilns remain today. While many potteries pass on specific patterns and styles as formats and styles, they are making products updated for each generation under the motto "Tradition is declining and tradition is a continuous innovation".
