Reiji Okamoto of OKAMOTO'S, who curated the exhibition event "YAGIBOY" held on November 25. He presides over places where connections across genres and generations were born, and went to Shibuya PARCO's leading cultural spaces "GALLERY X" and "PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO".
At the art exhibition "AKIRA ART OF WALL Katsuhiro Otomo x Kosuke Kawamura AKIRA ART EXHIBITION" held to commemorate the opening, unexpected connections with people were also discovered.

A gallery that communicates all kinds of cultures has been reborn and returned to Shibuya PARCO.
Shopping is not the only way to enjoy the new Shibuya PARCO. It gives new discoveries and stimulus to lifestyles from various fields, such as eating and drinking, stage and movies. Among them, I would like to pay particular attention to their approach to art and culture. There are galleries with unique concepts scattered throughout the museum, and there are many exhibitions that symbolize Shibuya's present day.
"GALLERY X" on B1F, directly handled by Shibuya PARCO, was operating in the former Shibuya PARCO, but was relocated to nearby Spanishzaka in 2016 due to rebuilding work. Then, in line with this reopening, we upgraded and returned. Reiji seems to have been visiting "GALLERY X" since the old building.
I would like to try "YAGI EXHIBITION" 24 hours a day with GALLERY X.
On the B1F "CHAOS KITCHEN" where GALLERY X is located, there are also restaurants with noren curtains from midnight to dawn. Along with that, "GALLERY X" will also change its business hours depending on the exhibition event. "I want to do YAGI 24 hours a day with GALLERY X," said Reiji, who knew that. I think it would be interesting if DJs from all over Tokyo were replaced and spind them all on MIX tape," he said. "YAGIBOY," he says, "YAGI EXHIBITION," an event organized on an irregular basis, inviting creators who interact with Reiji to sell and display clothes and art. The first time in 2017 was held 24 hours a day nonstop and became a hot topic, and after that it was held all over the country. On November 27, at the Grand OPEN of Shibuya PARCO, we crossed over with the used clothes shop "BOY" in Shibuya, and held a joint exhibition called "YAGIBOY". It was a great success by incorporating live performances, DJ play, and even flea markets. "It was the Indonesian illustrator Dwiky Ka that I found on Instagram that I designed the flyer for YAGIBOY. I think that I have incorporated my own humor into my work with an exquisite pop feeling, and I have a sense that no one can imitate. I didn't know, but when I offered a design, I was happy to accept it. I hope you will come to Japan someday and have his solo exhibition at GALLERY X."
※"AKIRA ART OF WALL Katsuhiro Otomo x Kosuke Kawamura AKIRA ART EXHIBITION" will end on December 16 (Monday). This is an exhibition in which the two galleries are linked, and I am impressed by the thorough spatial production and valuable original drawings.
The art exhibition "AKIRA ART OF WALL Katsuhiro Otomo x Kosuke Kawamura AKIRA ART EXHIBITION" is being held in conjunction with the gallery space "PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO" on the 4th floor, where Reiji wants to do. In "GALLERY X", a huge object of Tetsuo, the character of "AKIRA", is displayed, and the creative team YAR led by graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN creates the space. "Anyway, the production with video and music is so cool! Like live houses and clubs, I like dark places with good music, so it was so comfortable that I wanted to stay here all the time," says Reiji. Next, go to “PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO” on the 4th floor. Here, from works that re-colage the ART WALL installed during the renewal work to original drawings and posters, as well as chairs that appear in the work, are on display. "It was cool to make the space itself a work too! Also, Mr. Kawamura's original collage was good. "I was cutting such thin lines and doing delicate work," he said with excitement.
Connection with collage artist Kosuke Kawamura.
At this exhibition, Kosuke Kawamura, a collage artist who teamed up with Katsuhiro Otomo, and Reiji, who has been interacting for a long time. "I've been getting along with Mr. Kawamura since about eight years ago. At Kawamura's house, I made a collage together, and I printed it on a T-shirt designed by Kawamura by hand. Kawamura's collection of works also included works in collaboration with me. Looking at AKIRA's original collage picture, I felt a gap because I knew his personality, and once again realized Kawamura's yabasiness. I was told that I really like art and I can't help it."
I want you to experience it not only in photos and videos, but also with your own skin.
"When I visited GALLERY X and PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO, as well as music, I felt the power and power of life that could not be conveyed by photos and videos. When someone sees it on the SNS uploaded, you just want to know it, and when you see it directly, I think the power is completely different." As Reiji says so, by feeling the atmosphere of the field on your own skin, it enriches your sensibility. As I explained at the beginning, there are nine stores in Shibuya PARCO that have a gallery function. Why don't you enjoy art and culture together with shopping?
