<PROFILE>
Keeenue
Born in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1992
Graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Tama Art University in 2016.
He develops a wide range of activities, including murals, painting, three-dimensional works, and digital live painting. Keeenue is a coined word derived from the real name of KANA's Katakana reading (Kaeei). The work, which expresses the gap between concrete and abstract in a colorful way, creates an opportunity to stir the imagination of each viewer and deepen their interpretation. The original world view, which continues to change regardless of style or genre, is supported by many people, and exhibits in London, Taiwan, and Bangkok, as well as numerous collaborations such as Nike, Facebook, Starbucks, Sapporo Beer, etc. Major solo exhibitions and projects include "Between Truth and Reality" (HARUKAITO by island/2024), "Roppongi Art Night" (2023), "Yanbaru Art Festival" (2023, 2024), "PROJECT ATAMI" (2022).
<Artist Statement>
Twelve years ago, as an art college student, I was working at this Parco Museum. I was vaguely imagining the future in a part-time job, and I enjoyed thinking about what I could do. Someone said, "I can do what I can imagine." But if we had already traced the future that someone had followed, it was natural that we could do it. I want to think about the future that is not so.
As an artist, I'm afraid of calming down in one answer. No, it's boring rather than scary. I feel like I've been trying various challenges on my own, but from a bird's-eye view, it was coming and going in a small frame. "Artists should not be their own prisoners, style prisoners, reputational prisoners, or success prisoners," Matisse says, but I wonder if that is the case.
What I like is to manipulate colors and shapes. While traveling back and forth between art and commerce, he explored the balance between concrete and abstract, visual and narratives. Then, by intentionally breaking the balance, he experimented with playing and experimented with new expressions. In the live painting of this exhibition, I decided to draw on a canvas on the ring with a long stick from outside. I don't know what will be born, I might betray my expectations.
But the only thing that keeps changing shows the axis that does not change. Avoid standing on the same ring as others, and the tension that arises between expectations and challenges is driving me. At that time, what I envisioned in this place must have been different from what is now here. But this was good. If the next frame appears outside the frame, I will also be concerned about the outside. So here is one point of the endless exploration, and a new starting point.
